Conference Venue & Directions

The conference will take place at

Bergische Universität Wuppertal
Building K, Senatssaal (K.11.07)
Campus Grifflenberg
Gaußstraße 20
42119 Wuppertal

Please note: The building’s address is actually Fuhlrottstraße 10, 42119 Wuppertal, but whether you arrive by car or by bus, Gaußstraße is a more useful address for you as the main entrance is accessed via Gaußstraße.

The Senatssaal in Building K (level 11) can be reached by public transport with the bus lines 615, 645, and E, which can be accessed from platform 3 of the bus terminal of Wuppertal Main Station as well as the bus stop Historische Stadthalle. The stop closest to the venue is called Universität.

Guests travelling by car can find detailed directions here. Parking is available along the street as well as in the free parking garages PB, PC and PA, located on Max-Horkheimer-Straße 13-15, 42119 Wuppertal.

From the Airport to Wuppertal

All listed airports are directly connected to the railway network. For more detailed information regarding trains, connections, and fares, please visit the Deutsche Bahn website, the VRS website (when landing in Cologne), or the Rheinbahn website (when landing in Düsseldorf). Note that when arriving at night in Düsseldorf or Cologne (usually between 12 and 4 a.m.), trains may be running less frequently or not at all, which can increase the duration of your journey. Besides trains, various transfer and shuttle-services as well as car-rentals operate on-site and/or may be booked in advance.

From Frankfurt Airport (FRA)

An airport-map can be found here.

By (long-distance) train: It’s a (minimum) one and a half hour train ride from Frankfurt Airport to Wuppertal Main Station (Wuppertal Hbf). The long distance train station (Fernbahnhof) is signposted throughout the airport. Depending on your time of travel, there may be direct ICE connections. Most connections, however, require you to change trains at least once.

By transfer-service: The drive from Frankfurt Airport to Wuppertal takes between two and two and a half hours. Providers like World Transfer or Sixt Ride offer fixed rates and scheduled rides from your terminal directly to your hotel.

From Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN)

An airport-map can be found here.

By train: The train from Cologne Airport (Köln/Bonn Flughafen) to Wuppertal Main Station (Wuppertal Hbf) takes at least 50 minutes and – depending on the connection – you are required to change trains in either Cologne Main Station (Köln Hbf) or Cologne Messe (Köln Messe/Deutz). As some of the connections are local city trains only, you may be required to buy your tickets at the local vending machines, the service counter or the VRS website. The train station in the airport building is signposted and located between the two terminals.

By transfer-service: Driving from CGN to Wuppertal usually takes around 45 minutes. While the usual booking-services like World Transfer or local taxis just outside the airport building are available, we have had better experiences with a smaller regional provider. Reservations and inquiries can be made here by including the time and date of your arrival, your flight number, the amount of people you will be travelling with, as well as your mobile phone number.

From Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)

An airport-map can be found here.

By train: Depending on the connection, the duration of a train ride between Düsseldorf Airport (Düsseldorf Flughafen) and Wuppertal Main Station (Wuppertal Hbf) varies between 34 and 48 minutes and includes an interchange at Düsseldorf Main Station (Düsseldorf Hbf). To get from the airport to your train, follow the signs to the train station. You can also use the Airport SkyTrain, however, a valid ticket is needed. The train ticket for the journey from Düsseldorf Airport to Wuppertal Main Station allows you to get on the SkyTrain for free. As all online-ticket shops for this region are in German only, require an App and are not very user-friendly, it is recommended to buy your ticket at the VRR/Rheinbahn/Deutsche Bahn vending machines at the airport before entering the SkyTrain.

By transfer-service: By car, the journey from Düsseldorf Airport to Wuppertal can take between 40 to 50 minutes. While the usual booking-services like World Transfer or local taxis just outside the airport building are available, we have had better experiences with a smaller regional provider. Reservations can be made here by including the time and date of your arrival, your flight number, the amount of people you will be travelling with, as well as your mobile phone number.
